Healthy Living advice
The practice nurses will be happy to advise you on all aspects of healthy living including: stopping smoking, alcohol consumption, and healthy eating.
Cervical Smear Screening
You will be called for a routine cervical smear every 3—5 years depending on your age. This appointment can be booked with a nurse.
Family Planning is an important part of healthcare and fully confidential contraception advice is available.
Although this practice is unable to offer a coil fitting service, we can provide a leaflet with practices within the area that can assist.
Development and Behaviour
All mothers & babies are offered a 6 week review by a doctor and babies a 12 month review by the health visitor.
Vaccinations are available via an appointment with the nurse.
Regular immunisation sessions are held at the surgery. It is recommended that all children are immunised against polio, tetanus and diphtheria , whooping cough, mumps, measles and rubella, as well as meningitis and pneumococcal infection. Adults are recommended to have a tetanus and polio booster in accordance with current NHS guidelines. Yearly influenza immunisation is carried out for those people at risk and others on request.
The Dietician is available for advice after referral by a doctor or nurse.
Arrangements may be made for the District Nurse to visit at home for housebound patients only.
Community Psychiatric Nurse
The Psychiatric Nurse will contact all patients referred to her by the doctor.
Minor Surgery Procedures
Minor surgery is undertaken on a regular basis by both doctors and our Senior Practice Nurse.
